Positive Self-Talk
One of the most important choices we make is how we choose to talk to ourselves. We all have an inner voice that we use to talk to ourselves throughout each day. Often we allow this voice to make negative comments about us or our abilities. This can cause us to have anxiety, stress, worry, and doubt. Instead, we can choose to change the way we talk to ourselves and replace negative self-talk with positive self-talk. Positive self-talk is like having an optimistic voice in your head that always looks on the bright side and is constantly cheering you on. |
Instead of saying this:
I’m so nervous right now. I’ll never get it right. I can’t believe I did that! I always mess everything up. This is too hard. I am not good at this. No one likes me. |
Say this:
I am really nervous, but I am about to do something really brave. I’m disappointed, but I tried my very best. I haven’t figured it out yet, but I will. This may take some time & effort. I am a unique person, and I like me. They probably will too. |
